Using self-compassion to navigate stress

Événement

As the end of term approaches, deadlines can start to pile up, pressure can increase, and it’s easy to be hard on yourself. This workshop explores how self-compassion can help you navigate stress in a healthier, more supportive way. You’ll learn how to respond to challenges with greater kindness toward yourself while still staying motivated and accountable. We’ll break down self-compassion into three practical skills - mindfulness, recognizing that you’re not alone in your struggles, and self-kindness - and explore how to use them in everyday student life. You'll also discover the balance between the yin of soothing and acceptance and the yang of courage, motivation, and action. You will leave with simple, practical tools to manage difficult emotions, quiet self-criticism, and build a more balanced inner voice. Takeaways By the end of this workshop, you will: Recognize common end-of-term stressors and how they affect you Understand what self-compassion really means (and what it doesn’t mean) Learn and practice strategies to respond to stress and setbacks with supportive self-talk instead of harsh self-criticism Facilitator Lisa Tomlinson (Psychotherapist)

CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
