Roxham Road, at the Border Between Two Americas

Événement

Join us for a discussion with Ruth Kaplan about her photo book Crossing. « Crossing is a photo book about the Roxham Road border crossing, where I made a dozen trips between 2018 and 2023 to photograph the many elements that intersected there as a result of its existence, published by Kehrer Verlag. Included are essays by Habib Zahori, about his experience walking into Canada, Dr. Sarah Bassnett, about documentary work in the field and by Raoul Boulakia, about the law surrounding the Roxham Road border site. The book includes 117 photographs along with interview excerpts with asylum seekers who crossed into Canada there and log notes from one of the volunteers who helped at the site. » - Ruth Kaplan

CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
