"Rethinking Tomorrow" Seminar Series – Selling Sustainability: Claims, imagery, and reality in fashion and cosmetics

Activity and venue descriptions are provided in their original language.

Événement

Dr. Jennifer Lynes is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo and a leading expert on the intersection of marketing, consumer behaviour, and sustainability. In digital retail environments — where visuals, certifications, and brand storytelling heavily influence purchase decisions — how are brands communicating the environmental and social value of their products? Against the backdrop of rapid industry growth and intensifying scrutiny over supply chains and waste, this interactive seminar uses fashion and cosmetics as a lens to examine the boundary between credible green claims and greenwashing, alongside the representation of social diversity in visual storytelling. Grounded in over a decade of hands-on research, the seminar will discuss critical insights into how brands and retailers convey sustainability, along with strategies for more authentic communication across diverse consumer sectors.

CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
