LGBTQ+ Speed Friending: Halloween Edition in Montréal

Événement

Get spooky and make new queer friends fast at this Halloween-themed speed friending bash! About this event Meet new people, make new connections, and come dressed for Halloween. 👻 Making new friendships as an adult can be difficult. You can live in a city full of LGBTQ+ people, go to queer spaces, and still find it surprisingly hard to actually meet someone new. This Halloween season, VoxHaven is bringing a spooky twist to our LGBTQ+ Speed Friending experience. LGBTQ+ Speed Friending: Halloween Edition is a guided friendship and community-focused evening designed to make meeting new people easier, warmer, and a little more fun. Instead of walking into an open mixer and figuring everything out yourself, you’ll take part in a series of short, structured conversations with different people. VoxHaven conversation cards help move things beyond introductions and small talk, while guided rotations mean you always know what happens next. And because it’s Halloween, everyone is asked to come dressed for the occasion. 🎃 Go all out with a full costume, keep it simple, get creative, spooky, funny, glamorous, or completely unexpected. You don’t need an elaborate costume, but some kind of Halloween look, outfit, or accessory is part of the experience. Your costume might even become your easiest conversation starter of the night. Come solo or bring a friend. You do not need to know anyone beforehand. And this is not speed dating. The goal is simple: meet people, have real conversations, have some Halloween fun, and hopefully leave with a few new connections you actually want to continue. 🎃 Halloween Dress Code Costumes are part of this edition! Everyone attending is asked to dress for Halloween in some way. That could mean: 👻 A full costume 🧛 A character or themed look 🕸️ Something spooky or mysterious ✨ Something creative, camp, or glamorous 🎃 Or simply a Halloween-inspired outfit or accessories You don't need to spend a lot of money or arrive in an elaborate costume. The idea is simply for everyone to participate and help create the Halloween atmosphere together. Please keep costumes respectful of other cultures, identities, and communities. How Speed Friending Works 💬 Join the guided rounds During each Speed Friending round, you’ll meet a different person or small group. Each conversation has a clear beginning and ending, so you don’t have to worry about approaching strangers, interrupting conversations, or figuring out when it is time to move on. 🃏 Go beyond small talk VoxHaven conversation cards provide prompts designed to help you discover more than someone’s name and job. You might talk about interests, experiences, Montréal life, community, personal stories, things you care about, and unexpected common ground. And for this special edition, expect a few Halloween-inspired questions along the way. 👻 You’re always free to answer only what you feel comfortable sharing. 🔄 Keep meeting new people After each round, we guide the rotations so you can focus on the conversation rather than figuring out where to go next. Over the course of the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to meet several different people. 🤝 Reconnect after the rounds The structured part is only the beginning. After the final rounds, we leave time for you to find the people you connected with, continue conversations, exchange contact information, admire each other’s costumes, and spend time together more naturally. From strangers to friends. What to Expect 🌈 A structured LGBTQ+ social experience The evening follows a clear format designed to reduce the pressure that can come with walking into a room full of people you don’t know. 🎃 A Halloween atmosphere This isn’t just our regular Speed Friending event with a Halloween name. We want the room to feel like Halloween, which is why everyone is asked to embrace the theme and come dressed accordingly. 💬 Several new conversations You’ll meet different people through short, relaxed conversations centered on friendship and community. 🃏 Prompts that make conversation easier Our conversation cards help you move past repetitive small talk and discover shared interests, perspectives, and experiences. 🤝 A low-pressure atmosphere You do not need to be extroverted, confident with strangers, or experienced with Speed Friending. The format does the awkward part for you. 🍹 A queer-friendly evening at bar NDQ Grab a drink, show off your Halloween look, meet new people, and stay afterward if there is someone you want to keep talking to. Drinks will be available for purchase directly from the venue. 💛 More than a one-night connection VoxHaven is building an ongoing LGBTQ+ community both online and in person. Our goal is to make it easier to meet people at events and have ways to stay connected afterward, rather than having every interaction end when the night is over.
